Stuart Appleby interviews British broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough. Sir David, as Butterfly Conservation President, launched the world’s biggest butterfly survey for the third year running – The Big Butterfly Count – on Wednesday 11th July 2012 at the Zoological Society of London (Bartlett Room).
Sir David warned that butterflies could suffer serious population crashes this year and next spring following record-breaking bad weather. He also encouraged people to take part in the survey and record their sightings and findings of butterflies online, in order to build up an information bank of population levels and different species of the day-flying insect across the country.
